Every Journey Begins with a Single Step.
I've always been a bit of a storyteller to put it nicely I guess. I would get into trouble growing up because of the elaborate stories I would tell about my kindergarten teacher tap dancing on the table or some magical adventure I had at school that day. Thankfully, my parents didn't send me away. (right away at least). They instead found that venue for all wildly imaginative children: The Stage. I loved it. It was the only place where I could be a policeman, a paleontologist, and a tranquilized giraffe all in one afternoon. And so I grew up performing. Anywhere really, the church at first, but any space would do. The back of our couch turned into the perfect shadow puppet theatre. This love followed me all through high school and into college. I was able to perform throughout college, graduating with distinction from a growing but recognized program.
After college, while working with other theatre companies, I co-founded my own with my best friend. It's called Hope in Glory. I had the privilege to travel to numerous schools, churches, community centers and perform original pieces. One of those pieces was broadcast around the globe in over 240 countries. Since then, I've also had the honor of working with non profits and other organizations both performing and writing material for them. It has never changed my love for storytelling and the people that tell great stories.
I've had the privilege of working with Tony, Oscar, Emmy, Dove, and Grammy award winners in a number of varying capacities over the years. They have poured into my life and shared their art with me as I hope they would say the same of me. But the greatest thing about life is that there is always another story to tell. Another way to tell the story. Another audience member, another person who's life might be changed by that story. And that's why we must tell it. That's why we must share our art. I am an eternal optimist, I believe in Hope, I believe in Redemption, Forgiveness, I believe in Grace. I believe that there are things we will never comprehend, but that's why there is such a thing as Faith. And my prayer is that those beliefs that drive me are seen in every story I tell whether with my voice or with a pen, whether on film or stage, in whatever medium they find light, I hope they inspire as I've been inspired.
